Workday HCM Review

5.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: My experience with Workday HCM has been largely favorable, thanks to its user-friendly design and comprehensive HR functionalities. The platform excels in delivering real-time insights and simplifying processes like payroll, talent management, and compliance tracking. While initial setup and learning took time, the long-term benefits of improved efficiency and accessibility outweighed these challenges.

Pros:

Its comprehensive features, including workforce planning, talent management, and payroll integration, streamline HR processes effectively. The real-time analytics and reporting tools provide actionable insights, empowering data-driven decision-making.

Cons:

Customization options, while extensive, can be complex and sometimes require technical expertise or vendor assistance. The cost of implementation and maintenance may be high for smaller organizations. Performance can occasionally be slower during peak usage times, which can be frustrating

Powerful and Scalable, but Complex and Costly

4.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: robust, comprehensive platform for managing HR processes, from payroll to talent management. Its user-friendly interface and real-time analytics make it efficient for HR teams, while the self-service features empower employees and managers. However, the system can be complex to navigate initially, and customization may require significant time and resources. While it’s a scalable solution for large organizations, its cost and implementation time can be challenging, particularly for smaller companies. Despite these challenges, its integration capabilities, global reach, and security features make it a strong choice for businesses with complex HR needs.

Pros:

Workday HCM is praised for its user-friendly interface, comprehensive functionality (covering HR, payroll, talent management), and real-time analytics for data-driven decisions. It offers global capabilities, making it ideal for multinational organizations, and self-service features that empower employees and managers. The system is cloud-based, ensuring easy access and automatic updates, and supports customization to fit unique business needs. With strong security, integration capabilities, and robust support, Workday is a scalable and flexible solution for modern HR management.

Cons:

complexity for new users, requiring extensive training, and time-consuming customization. It can be expensive, with high licensing and implementation costs, and has limited reporting flexibility. Large organizations may experience performance issues, and integration setup can be challenging. The mobile app is less intuitive, and long implementation times can delay deployment.

Sounds good at board level - very poor user experience

1.0 2 months ago

Comments: My workday experiences have been worse than poor. Its almost as if its been deliberately designed to irritate me while I'm trying to get my work done!

Pros:

Very little. My experience of Workday implementations are that they are over engineered, and seem to exist for the sake of the ego of executives rather than the users

Cons:

Too many obscure fields, and too few relevant fields. Too many clicks to achieve anything

Always Evolving HR System

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: I enjoy using Workday HCM as it's a one stop shop for our company's HR data. Moving to Workday was a big improvement from our previous HR system where we had an account per country, totalling to over 10 accounts. I would say there is a steep learning curve in the beginning as an Admin and even for employees. And the training and certificates are overpriced so I have had to learn how to configure/use Workday through other mediums.

Pros:

It can be used globally. The user interface and usability is easy to understand (similar to Facebook's interface), the ability to customize, the different modules and features it supports. The tool is always evolving as the company has 2 releases every year.

Cons:

It is created for the US by the US. It does not accommodate for international laws and compliance resulting in us having multiple tools to support international countries.

Workday is the OG

5.0 last month New

Comments: I have used Workday HCM with a couple different employers and it is by far superior to other comparable software. Everything is located on your dashboard. There is no multiple logins for different apps/software because it's all here. It gives easy access to view and/or change pay/benefit information, all employee personal information, taxes and time entering. What's not to love?

Pros:

One of the things I like most about Workday HCM is the customizable drop down menu on your dashboard to make it easy to access things YOU need. Also, the time entering and access to benefit information is also great.

Cons:

I don't have anything I don't like about it.

Pros:

Workday HCM excels in providing a comprehensive and user-friendly interface for managing human resources and talent. Its robust analytics and reporting features offer valuable insights into workforce data, helping organizations make informed decisions.

Workday HCM making things easier

4.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Overall, using workday HCM has been amazing. With minor improvements can help alot.

Pros:

It is a one stop platform, it helps to easily view and download payslips, check comments from supervisors, easy to use.

Cons:

The password protection is good, however asking for otp for every step kind of gets a bit annoying. Other than that great to use.

Strongest HCM we were able to identify

5.0 last year

Comments: Very satisfied with Workday as a tool, we have recently conducted an internal assessment of how satisfied we are with the tool and it has highlighted very few areas where the tool is not meeting our needs. We see the tool as a long term solution for our organisation.

Pros:

All requirements in one place, and more. Meaning we were able to centralise and transform (in an agile way) our HR processes as we implemented. Alerts allow for end users to engage and be engaged with using a sensible approach. All data in one place allows for reporting and budgeting to be easy.

Cons:

Implementation was sticky for us. We had a number of requirements which we thought were typical however had to create significant work-arounds in order to meet our needs. This was resource heavy from our perspective and elongated the implementation (we used an implementation partner and not Workday FYI)

Increase HR and payroll compliance and daily efficiency

4.0 last year

Comments: Post-sandbox testing, Workday can update and release software. This sandbox environment allows me to try things out, observe what happens, and then fine-tune my procedures. Many issues are resolved because to Workday's ability to notify workers of pending tasks and make information about those tasks readily available to them.

Pros:

If you're familiar with the system and its customizations, you should be able to accomplish just about anything using Workday. I really like how workday can be used to both investigate past company procedures and improve current ones. After years of using ADP, I have concluded that Workday is the superior HR software.

Cons:

In my opinion, the time it takes to find and interview potential candidates is too long. While Workday's learning resources are excellent, I do wish they provided more configuration-specific instruction.

Alternatives Considered:

Workday is probably the best human capital management too in the world right now.

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Every big organization needs a human capital management program. Without Workday, this wouldn't have been possible. Especially in big companies like Agoda, where there are many requirements from stakeholders such as GDPR, Data Privacy, and Security, these are things that many of the competitors couldn't do.

Pros:

Workday is probably the best human capital management in the world right now. Learning Workday opens wide opportunities to various jobs. As a Workday HCM beginner, it might be overwhelming, but after one training course and a month of practice, Workday HCM can easily become a simple thing. Workday HCM is important as it is the core of other Workday modules such as Workday Security and Workday Business Process Architecture.

Cons:

Workday is definitely an expensive tool that is only utilized by big companies. It is going to be rare for small to medium size company to use Workday. It means that, if you are going to quit a company that uses Workday and would prefer to find a job in a similar fashion, it has to be a large size company. Workday training is also kind of expensive, yet it is not a one-on-one training but a group course instead. Workday Support is very technically useful, however, it might take some time for an issue to resolve and they don't provide live chat support. Workday Learning is something that my company has issues with the most.

Workday Recruiting - You'll set back your recruiting function years behind

1.0 7 years ago

Comments: integration w/ Workday HR - not enough benefit to outweigh the functional negatives

Pros:

Graphical Interface - cool graphics is the only positive Yes it integrates candidate data with HR (if you have Workday HR) but that benefit isn't worth the flaws

Cons:

Workflow is too restrictive - nice in theory but you have to go back to you in-box to move the candidate to the next step Offers take forever and if you make a mistake you have to resend to leader for approval Everything is effective dated - if you have a recruiter who started after a req is opened they can't take action on a candidate who applied before that date (terrible for vacation coverage/new hire recruiters). Can't search by candidate name (e.g. you are looking for John Smith - Names tha thave J or S in them come up in no particular order - also can't use the ATS as a sourcing database (we had a progressive sourcing team and they couldn't use it) Recruiters in a high volume environment will hate it - it takes literally 4x the time to hire a candidate in the system. There are too many steps and flaws. There are many more issues - My company met with Workday User Experience Leader and they listened to the feedback and in a year - no changes were made. These aren't configuration issues people - these are architectural design flaws. Run don't walk from this software - It's at least 5 - 10 years away from anything on the market. You will impact recruiter morale in high volume recruiting shops. If you have very low volume recruiting then I guess you could live with it. Reporting functionality is almost nil - doesn't come with any really useful canned reports - very limited.

Workday helps our company recover payroll benefits

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: We are currently implementing Workday HCM across the organization for onboarding, benefits, staffing, time monitoring and absence management. We will be enabling the administrator self-management feature shortly. We will appreciate the ease of navigation and module features we started with Workday. I have previously used three workforce management systems - PeopleSoft, UltiPro and ADP. I consider Workday to be the Cadillac of such systems. In just six months, we have corroborated that the choice of HCM, benefits and payroll system was the right one. We liked the fact that all customers received the same version of the program and that there were partial semi-annual updates. The customization is in the business procedures that the delivering application creates within the system you have been given. No "bolts on". Another big plus for their team managers was visibility, and we appreciated the way security is role-based.

Pros:

Our first experience was open enrollment last year. Those who tried it, stated that it was very simple and easy to use, Workday's interface. Accountability and visibility for absence monitoring. Managers have the ability to look at each team member's time off, as well as each team member's balance. Our company encourages employees to control their personal information and gives them the ability to set up and assign by pay type their direct deposit, federal and state withholding. In addition, everyone has a different perspective on their payroll, focusing primarily on salaries.

Cons:

Out of the room, we didn't know what we didn't know. It took about 4 months to work out some of the personality issues and link the pieces together. Know how business processes affect each component individually. Some components are very finicky. In order for the system to work properly, there needs to be someone who is the in-house maintenance and troubleshooting specialist.

Why Workday HCM is the Future of HR Management

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall, Workday HCM is a powerful HR management solution that offers a wide range of functionality and integration with other business systems. While there are some challenges associated with using the software, it is an excellent choice for businesses that require a comprehensive HR management tool.

Pros:

Workday HCM is an enterprise-level human capital management software that provides various HR services. As an admin user of the software, I found several advantages to using it. First and foremost, it offers a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. This makes it simple to access and manage HR functions such as payroll, benefits, and performance management. Additionally, the software has strong reporting capabilities, providing access to data on everything from employee demographics to compliance data. Another major advantage of Workday HCM is its integration with other business systems, such as accounting software and time tracking applications. This integration makes it possible to streamline HR processes and reduce the need for manual data entry. The software also has a comprehensive mobile app, allowing users to manage HR functions on the go.

Cons:

However, there are also some drawbacks to using Workday HCM. One of the biggest concerns is the complexity of the system. While it offers a lot of functionality, it can be overwhelming for new users.

Workday HCM, a victory in managing workforce.

Comments: Generally the experience with Workday HCM has been so beneficial to the entire organization both the employees and to the performance of our organization. It allows us to have well managed and orchestrated workforce which leads to us getting optimum results from all our work especially matters community awareness and development.

Pros:

A valuable aspect about Workday HCM that we have really benefited from is how flexible it is as this allowed us to set it up in way that it perfectly matched with our nature of work. It allows us to get more productive results from individuals by aligning someones capabilities with the right kind of work roles. It has very reliable insights about workers which makes it easy to offer excellent work conditions which benefits both the company and the employee.

Cons:

Despite Workday HCM being such an important product for managing workforce, all this comes at a cost. Also the user interface could be improved to get more intuitive.

Powerful, but cumbersome

3.0 6 years ago

Comments: Powerful tool, but there is a huge middle ground between basic and pro users that need to understand how the platform works that have no access to training materials and little support from Workday itself. Has a lot of potential, but marred by clunky and antediluvian UX

Pros:

Reporting - almost limitless functionality in terms of getting reports on salient information. Can pull just about anything, and as long as the data is clean at point of entry, it will come out in an Excel file very readable and easy to read Linear Process Maps - particular processes are very well laid out and structured if done right the first time around Employee landing page - bright, vibrant, presentable

Cons:

Cumbersome - quite slow. Redundant graphics slow down page transitions, reports take a long time to pull if you are looking for a fairly normal size file, some processes can turn into roundabouts Navigation - back buttons for some, but not all pages, which doesn't make sense (have to go back to home page if you click through to the wrong area). No real logic to how hyperlinks work in platform, leading to rabbit holes while trying to follow a papertrail to its conclusion

Money pit - a software company that charges you for regular updates to their software

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Everything you do with Workday costs money. Forget the annual licence cost, that's only part of it - every time you send an email or phone support you are on the clock. Twice a year when the software gets updated you are required to pay consulting fees to Workday or one of their service partners to test that the update actually works at your end. Most new features and enhancements are not provided for free as part of these updates, so you have to purchase them. Third party applications that supposedly integrate with Workday only do so after you pay thousands of dollars for Workday to set that up for you. Hidden costs everywhere - you need to budget for 25-50% per annum in service and other costs on top of your annual licence fee. Be warned - it is a unique business model in the software world.

Pros:

The workflows are really good, particularly for recruitment and performance management

Cons:

The interface is unusual from a UX perspective, and everything is very rigid. Workday offers little flexibility or user customisation, unless you are happy to spend a fortune with one of their service partners. Their expensive user training courses are absolutely appalling for adult learners - 4 days in a classroom flicking through a 500 page bound workbook, anyone?
