Sometimes my clients have a need and I have to search for a solution. I am always cost conscious instead of jumping on the bandwagon for software that 'everyone' uses. Label Designer caught my eye for its very low cost compared to other products. Once I tried the trial, the features amazed me. 1. You have the ability to print to any label instead of only to the 'Avery' numbers. Something we needed. 2. Once you supply the measurements and layout of the pre-cut labels on the sheet, you still have the ability to minutely adjust position of the labels so they line up exactly. 3. Very easy to associate a database of information to print on the labels. No complicated steps. Once all set-up, the client now creates the latest database and save a file using the same name each time. Open Label Designer, it remembers the custom label, hit refresh on the database to pull in the latest info, and print. All done in no time at all. We use it to create custom production labels for a kitchen cabinet manufacturer as each component is labelled for any one project. They run close to 20 projects a day and every piece of wood is labelled. Label Designer has never let them down. Highly reliable, consistent, no useless fancy features to content with. I had always wanted something flexible and 'failure proof'. Each upgrade preserved my earlier designs and labels. Before retirement I used LDP for many aspects of complex proposals - printing divider tabs, complex labeling and mailing labels, identifiers for enclosures, and storage labels. I also used it for mailing lists and specialty labels with custom graphics. I did seasonal labels for my hobby bakery and other events. I have likely used every label manufactured by Avery. The software gave me easy tools to set it up and do everything I wanted. CAM Development was super helpful anytime I needed assistance moving from an old computer to a new one. > > **Cons**: I have had to go into designs and do minor format tweaks when I got new printers. I could always do it but often it was after printing. It would be nice if it was automated. However, with a million printers on the market that might boost the price - which I would not like. > > My experience has been very good. My creativity has never been pinched with LDP.
