> **Pros**: We are using the free version to develop AWS services locally. Developers don't step on each other trying to use a shared environment in AWS.  This makes local development so much easier. We use SQS, SNS, and Secrets Manager for example. We also spin up LocalStack for integration tests. Both methods use a docker container.
> 
> **Cons**: There are not too many cons for the free version other than some of the AWS features are not supported, such as IAM sercurity. You also can't persist data. The free version can get you a long way if you have setup scripts and don't need non-core services. The paid versions have much more support.
> 
> It has been excellent. We only hit a few minor bugs that were fixed quickly.
