Best password manager

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: Based on the price the value is exceptional. Bitwarden is part of my workflow a long time ago.

Pros:

Beside the fact that Bitwarden is completely open source and validated by security companies, it has a ton of functionality that really improves security at home and within an organization.

Cons:

I can't really tell a lot. Sometimes I had to initiate the sync manually when I had to use the password between devices, but that is usually rare.

Highly recommend over other password vaults

Pros:

Organized way of saving and protecting passwords, clearly very secure, and I love that it also generates passwords that meet specific criteria too.

Cons:

The autofill function doesn't consistently work on many web pages which can be frustrating but easily overcome.

Very confusing for set up and use

2.0 10 months ago

Comments: Very, very frustrating. Also disappointed because I had invested a fair amount of time comparing different password managers and thought this one would work. Instead it turned into a huge waste of time.

Pros:

That it was free - I appreciate that at least I did not lose money when I deleted my account.

Cons:

User interface, help, instructions, etc. very hard to follow for beginner. It was difficult getting started, and I never could find a satisfactory answer on why there are both a web app and a browser extension. There are also mobile and desktop apps. I could not tell if we needed all of the apps installed, and if not, why would we have desktop, web, and extension all on same computer?

Powerful tool but simple to use. Essential for security.

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Initial setup was straightforward, the admin and general interface is clean and simple to use. New users can quickly get up and running.

Pros:

The mobile app and browser integration saves time by being able to instantly enter stored credentials and create new secure passwords when adding accounts. The ability to create groups allows us to share appropriate data with multiple teams. Tools such as the secure send function and password generator helps us to follow our cyber security standards.

Cons:

There are no negatives that come to mind. Having used Bitwarden for a number of years I can say it has been an invaluable tool and numerous updates have only enhanced the experience.

No more "password" passwords!

5.0 last month New

Comments: Bitwarden has been a lifesaver! I used to use just a few passwords for everything from opening my computer to email to bank logins! I didn't like using the same password and when I had to update passwords it became difficult to remember exactly what changes I made to my standard one used. Bitwarden makes it so simple to have incredibly secure passcodes that I can copy and paste into websites so I don't have to remember them and I can use passwords that are harder to hack. The mobile app is especially nice when working on the go. I've never looked back since starting to use Bitwarden and recommend it to people frequently!

Pros:

The login is simple and secure and organizing all of my entries is simple and convenient to search.

Cons:

I wish there was slightly more customization about special characters when automating a random password. Certain sites have requirements about which characters you can use and I'd like to be able to tailor it to that and my preferences.

BitWarden is Robust, Feature-Packed, and Secure, Delivering a Great Product Even at the Free Tier

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: BitWarden is one of the most user-friendly and feature-packed password managers. The free plan offers unlimited storage, multi-device sync, and world-class encryption. It is built on open-source code and regularly audited by third-party firms for its security performance. As counterintuitive as this sounds to people not steeped in tech, transparency on the source code makes a thoroughly more reliable security product. One of my top considerations when shopping for a password manager over a year ago was cross-platform compatibility. At the time, I relied upon an iPhone and an HP Ultrabook. I didn’t want a password manager that was great on IOS phones but iffy or still in development on a PC-compatible release. Or vice versa. And I didn’t want to be locked into Chrome or Safari or any particular browser to have a good experience. BitWarden is hands-down the most platform-agnostic and cross-compatible password manager I’ve experienced, with no compromise at all to its security protocols. It also includes one outstanding bonus feature, a built-in password generator, even at the free tier. And you’re never pressured in any way to adopt the modestly priced paid upgrade version. I would recommend BitWarden to any colleague without reservation. —Mark Vanderpool

Pros:

I love the cross-platform sync and compatibility: multiple devices and different browsers are no problem.

Cons:

Autosave and autofill features could be improved, but the bumps are minor.

Intuitive and easy password management

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have been using Bitwarden for almost two years and it is close to perfect. The app runs smoothly and seamlessly on both smartphones and desktops. It is supported on a variety of browsers, ranging from the more well-known ones like Chrome and Safari to the less-known ones like Brave and Vivaldi. According to the user's needs, it can be used from the desktop app, mobile app, browser extension, or even from the command line. Quite a few features, such as unlimited passwords or multi-factor authentication, are included in the free version. The paid one contains more extensive functionalities, at a reasonable price. Because Bitwarden is a well-known software, it has a large community across the internet and great customer support. Also, the developers keep in close contact with users.
The only problems I found are the autosave function, which could be improved. Additionally, the creation of a 'share' button could make the app even more user-friendly, as now you have to manually copy and paste items to share them outside the app.
All in all, I think Bitwarden is a great piece of software that not only improves personal security, but also makes everyday life easier. Definitely worth considering, especially if you don't have a password manager.

Pros:

The number of features. Seamless and smooth running. Vast community and developer support. Free private version/reasonable enterprise price. Cross-device and cross-browser support.

Cons:

Autosave sometimes doesn't recognize passwords. No easy items sharing outside the app.

Pros:

Password encryption - end 2 end encryption of passwords so they cannot be stolen from Bitwarden servers. Shared collections for team secrets - document passwords, server access, etc. Secure password message - send password to other user securely

Cons:

Amazing Passwordmanager

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I switched from LastPass about two years ago and i don't miss a thing. The Software is extremely small in size, has amazing encryption options, is blazingly fast and gets updated regularely.

Pros:

It is extremely easy to setup, holds an unlimited amount of passwords (i currently have saved around 400) and let's you create even credit card pre-fills or save Adresses. So i usually can directly login to a website and let Bitwarden fill out everything else with just a few clicks.

Cons:

On mobile devices sometimes Bitwarden's Trigger doesn't work. That's usually when an In-App Browser is used and Bitwarden can't destinct between the shown Browser Page and the App. So in such cases you usually have to go to the Vault directly and copy your credentials to your clipboard.

The best free password manager out there

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: It's easy to use, easy to onboard with such an important feature (password management) and at the same time extremely cost-efficient.

Pros:

BitWarden is free, and has the ability to allow you to self-host it in your own premises. This is a feature a lot of password managers do not give. It's usually either local or on their cloud. Bitwarden is the only one that allow you to host it locally on-premise.

Cons:

The UI is a little dated and not as polished. Using it is also a little bit wonky, having a separate plugin and the standalone software is a bit confusing too.

The best password manager I've used by a wide margin

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: I use Bitwarden many times a day, every day, for various applications (password generation, storage, filling, etc), and it just works for every application. Can't recommend it strongly enough!

Pros:

Bitwarden has a clean interface, it's super simple to use, it's open-source, it's free, it never tries to pressure you into upgrading, it syncs beautifully across all kinds of devices, and it integrates great with Android's autofill feature.

Cons:

I have no complaints at all about Bitwarden. So far, there's nothing I don't like.

Bitwarden is the best password manager, and the best part is that it's free

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: It's been spectacular. I love Bitwarden. I have installed it for my children, my wife, my mother, and recommended it to friends. I even posted a blog article about how to get set up on my blog.

Pros:

It has every feature of the big players, but it's absolutely free. There are a few things you can pay for (I personally do the $10/year plan) but most people do not need to. Password management, password generation. It doesn't get more simple.

Cons:

I honestly have nothing bad to say about Bitwarden.

Bitwarden is both very capable and reasonably priced

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Since moving to Bitwarden I've been very pleased with the experience. Importing from the old password manager product was quick and seamless. I was up and running in no time with a U2F hardware key as a second authentication factor. The little touches like adding custom fields and additional URIs to a login are great.

Pros:

One standout feature for me is the ability to use things like base domain and regular expresions to match login URIs. With logins you can also add custom fields to be filled - particularly useful for something like an AWS login, where you need to provide an account ID as well as the typical username and password. The password generator also supports passphrases which is another great addition. Granular controls on password policies and minimum

Cons:

The way attachments are handled needs a rethink. Creating and saving a note before editing it in order to add a file isn't a nice experience. A new category alongside notes would improve this. I feel the interface could do with some modernisation but that's obviously subjective. Overall it does feel like an efficient product.

Password and Credentials Management

5.0 last year

Pros:

Bitwarden is a great software for password and credentials management. It has many features and the good thing is we can use those features for free. It would be a perfect product for personal use in my opinion.

Cons:

One bug that I still find in Bitwarden is when we use the auto filling feature in browser such as Google Chrome. The password or credentials doesn't appear even though I already hit the shortcut

Useful tool to manage and share your passwords

4.0 last year

Pros:

You can quickly find what you're looking for because the interface is simple and well-organized. Even if you can create as many folders as you like (which is useful for managing different projects), the search box will help you find whatever you need without needing to scroll further.

Cons:

So far there's nothing I disliked about it. I don't use it every day, but when I do everything goes smoothly.

Best password manager I've tried

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I have over 500 different strong passwords registered thanks to bitwarden, and only need to remember my master password to unlock my vault. Everyone should use a password manager tool like bitwarden.

Pros:

Bitwarden easily syncs on your laptop, desktop and mobile, keeping all your passwords safe and quickly accessible.

Cons:

I wish we could create subfolders to classify the different passwords we store in the vault, and display tags on the vault.
