About ConstructionOnline
Trusted by +850,000 pros as the all-in-one construction management software designed to help finish jobs on time and under budget.
Overall its easy to navigate and they don't put a whole bunch of things that you will never use. They really do work hard to make it easy for us.
The App that comes along with it gets stuck on a screen or 2 but I am working on that with the UDA team.

Robust construction management software
Comments: We are about two months into the implementation process and it has gone more smoothly than expected. Support training is super helpful in getting the team members up to speed.
Pros:
Having the ability to track a project from a an early lead, to an estimate and proposal and through the construction and completion is incredibly helpful to have all the information on one platform.
Cons:
The cloud based platform can have some compatibility issues with certain browsers (Microsoft Edge). It can get bogged down in the Redline planroom and takeoff features with really large files.
Alternatives Considered:
6 months in and starting to love it
Comments: It was intuitive to set up but also very labor intensive. Took me about eight weeks of 60 hour days to get the basics up and running.
Pros:
Selections Easy to use Similar enough to others that users can learn it very quickly. Scheduling looks like it’s going to work very well. Would like to see scheduling by the hour not just by the day.
Cons:
Payroll doesn’t import as they don’t link to Quickbooks online Doesn’t track subcontractor insurance policies Doesn’t provide lien waivers so we have to use a third system to get that No bid management system for gathering subcontractor bids, selecting and awarding subcontracts. It’s all very manual and thus very prone to error.
Great platform
Comments: Overall very good support and very powerful customization.
Pros:
Its simple yet powerful in all aspects. I love the fact that you can modify anything to your liking.
Cons:
only small details. I think the software like CO Drive need some small improvements
Alternatives Considered:
Almost, but missed the mark
Comments: Customer service is very helpful for the product they have. Unfortunately they miss on some pretty basis stuff. We have been told for over a year that development team is working on some of the basic fixes and still nothing changes.
Pros:
Estimation portion is good. Job costing is fair.
Cons:
It does not have the ability to provide clients with add/alternate pricing. Seems like a very basic feature that most construction companies are asked to provide. This one slipped by us through all the demo's and we have been frustrated for over a year with this. Have to manually do work arounds. Also we are a commercial construction company that does about 300 jobs a year. The software does not even have the ability to assign each project a job #. With as many jobs going on, we have to be able to cost every purchase and we do that using job #'s and PO#'s. We are manually assigning each job a number. These are just two of the larger misses on this software.
Great Construction Management Platform.
Comments: Very good communication from the initial demonstration, through the selection process; and on to helping us find the right solution for our needs. Everyone was really professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
Pros:
It's set up the way it should be. It's very easy to put in the information you need and access the tools. You can literally start working with the software as soon as you sign in.
Cons:
I have to spend some more time to find something.

Thumbs Up for UDA
Comments: I am very comfortable, it is easy to learn and works well
Pros:
I was familiar with it and it meets many of our requirements at a better price point
Cons:
It is shy of perfection, but which software is? We would like to have automation in the scheduling to allow adjustments and modifications to the timeline based on real world advances or setbacks

COL Review
Comments: The product is best in class and the customer support is always spot on. I never have long waits for answers and the ability to quickly reach an expert is very appreciated.
Pros:
COL is a solid software all around. Very few softwares have the built in functionality in COL. If I was going to design proprietary software for my company, it would look and function very much like COL.
Cons:
My only two complaints are the lack of more accounting integrations and the cap on projects. Having a few more options for third party integrations where COL doesn't have internal functionality would be a benefit.

Highly Recommend due to better communication with Owners and subcontractors
Comments: I believe we were one of the first companies to come aboard and have learned to use the platform as a great advantage for our team.
Pros:
We like the scheduling and estimating components of the program the best. We can have all our resources in one place and easily communicate Schedules, Change orders and Proposals to Owners, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Cons:
I would like to see the Lead tracking be more like a CRM where you could email your contacts and schedule automated follow-ups.
UDA REVIEW Third year Utilizing this great tool!
Comments: Easy to use which is important for new Team and Clients
Pros:
Scheduling, email tracking, customer service is fast and very helpful.
Cons:
Filing. It would be nice if you could copy an updated file and it would replace not copy with a (1) and would just replace it.
Project Manager
Comments: Overall UDA is a great product. So far I mainly use UDA for estimating and scheduling only. I love how the estimates can be converted into schedules.
Pros:
I loved how UDA intregrates All Submittals, COI and data in place. And has the ability to monitor their status live.
Cons:
I really do not like the Daily logs. If I have 7 trades at our project. I have to create 7 different logs for the day to document the manpower I had on site.
Alternatives Considered:
Uda construction online
Comments: I have used uda since 2007, when I decided to go to an online platform I tried several, none of them had the easy user platform that construction online had
Pros:
Estimate budget tracking, scheduling, the use of subcategories, the ability to set tax rates, and profit margins
Cons:
You can not adjust the schedule from the mobile app

COL is Great
Comments: The support staff is amazing. I have always had great solutions to issues I come across here and there. The classes I took for the Quick Books integration were very helpful. We decided to change our entire book keeping around how socket exports to Quick Books.
Pros:
I love the estimating. It keeps the estimate more organized than Quick Books. Adding notes and attaching proposals from other subcontractors and suppliers keeps the information all close by.
Cons:
I don't care for having to edit every row line in the estimate so the description spacing can be larger than the Item and cost rows. I wish there was a way to change all of them at once in the top ruler of the editor.
Alternatives Considered:
Excellent tool for construction companies
Pros:
Scheduling / estimating / to do / daily logs
Cons:
Still learning about all the tools the system has to offer. So far - there is nothing I don’t like or noted needs improvements

Satisfied Customer! Excellent Customer Service, second to none!
Comments: Overall experience is very, very good. The only thing I would suggest, is that more time is spent with PM's like me to have more instruction on how to better use the software.
Pros:
User friendly, and Excellent Customer Service! Working with [sensitive content hidden], Product Specialist on instructing me on how to use the "Take-Off "was very good, because she was extremely patient and explained the process is an easy way to understand. Additionally, she gave me more information than I asked for which helped me to get more use of the software. [sensitive content hidden] represents CO in the highest professional manner that makes me want to continue using the software. I hope she is available to help me when I'm at an impasse. Satisfied Customer for Sure! :)
Cons:
Construction Scheduling. Gnatt Chart is somewhat difficult to navigate and I need allot of tech support.
Construction Online
Comments: The product is easy to use provides a great user friendly tool to manage projects.
Pros:
The app is user friendly, overall easy to use and train, has almost every Project Management tool that a construction Project Manager will need.
Cons:
Very basic estimating tool, very basic scheduling tool, very poor billing, invoice management and cost tracking
Alternatives Considered:
Big Fan!!!
Pros:
I really like the estimating integration and project tracking. Its nice to have a platform to house all the information about one project.
Cons:
Adding Sheets to a current set is a cumbersome. It would be great id we could add the Architects revision number instead of V1 V2 etc.
Constrction Online User Review
Comments: MY overall experience is a B+. I have really enjoyed this software and will continue to implement it throughout my career.
Pros:
CO has been a major success within our company in regard to organization and communication.
Cons:
There are a lot of features that have proven to be a bit tricky to fully understand. Scheduling is an example. I have found it difficult to fully grasp the predecessors and start vs finish date shifting.
Great Software
Comments: Construction Online has really helped our company. We love customer service and the willingness to consider our feature requests.
Pros:
All-in-one functionality. Super great customer service.
Cons:
There are just a few minor features that we would be great. 1) Not counting QB credit card credit as cost. 2) Being able to see what costs came in from QB for each Construction Online category.
JFL Plug Power Mechanical Engineering review
Comments: Overall it's a great software. I have used countless apps and software that detail site information. I think the user interface is fantastic in my opinion, one of the best if not the best. I don't know how the project score works but I'm going to get more familiar. I think just doing this review has opened my world up to all these other tools that I will be using.
Pros:
The individual who designed the site interface did a great job. The weather and latest project activity are items that I'll now open when speaking to the engineer at site. In doing this review, I found out that I can see the address of the site, which sounds simple, but is INCREDIBLY useful. If one can imagine, I am looking for a site in 2015, and there are 8 buildings owned by the same major company. It takes me say, 10-15 min finding on google maps where the site exactly is, and even then sometimes it's unclear. Using this site already saved my 2 hours just with that simple application on the main user screen while I was doing this review.
Cons:
I think I'd like to have a "Read Me" about each particular site so that I understand what the mindset is of the individual onsite. As an example, a read me note would detail "Raymond Furr will be at site on Monday's and Fridays doing XYZ check, and uploading pictures as the equipment is installed. Feel free to upload site pictures if you have visited the site, or were sent by another party, but understand that I will review the images and may remove if aren't associated with site". This would be similar to "Jobsite Instructions", but it would be to a different audience, mainly to those who aren't on site and need/provide digital information
Katy taught me how to update contacts to allow for punchlist viewing by our team members.
Comments: So many! Help with organizing - help with scheduling - help with wrangling everything!!! Gotta get back to work.
Pros:
I enjoy the cross platform functionality. It's so great to be able to access our files from any location, either online or from our servers in the office. This makes a big difference as our team (and project list) continues to grow - we can allow viewing of select items/lists and we don't need to force anyone to use Mac or Windows to work within UDA. Far surpassing any software features, though, the fact that your IT staff is so prompt to respond and so helpful launches this software into one of my favorites I've ever worked with. All software has issues - it's how you respond and deal with those issues that differentiate you from the rest and I thank you for it. Now if you can just have some IT available until 5pm West Coast time (where I am) my dreams would really come true. Thank you to Katy and all the other fabulously helpful people I've interacted with!
Cons:
A trifling issue, but since you asked - when I add documents from our computer to the Project Files for a job, it's pretty wonky and time consuming. If I drag an item to the file list, instead of showing it was added - the file list scrolls back to the top so I have to scroll back down to see if it was even added - which it usually wasn't. This happens each time. This means I've taken to adding each document twice to ensure it imports so I don't need to scroll down to check if it's there or not. It would be MUCH nicer if the file list stayed put while I added files so I could see where - and that they were added to the list. Sometimes UDA lets me add mutliple documents and adds a 1 or 2 after each multiple - and sometimes it warns me that it already has that doc in the file. If this warning could pop up every time, I wouldn't need to then re-scroll down to the files I just added and delete duplicates. Also - just like when I add files, when I delete a duplicate the file list automatically scrolls back up to the top so I have to manually go back down to where I was to delete the next duplicate.
7 Years and Still Running!
Pros:
The app for the field has been a game changer for us. It bridged a gap between our office staff and the field staff in ways I didn't know would happen. Recently, integrating with QB has also blown my mind at how fast the PM in the field can see the project actual costs. He is now able to make those hard decisions much more quickly and with confidence.
Cons:
The only thing that comes to mind is I wish there was an event log or something we can reference when changes are made. I also wish there was an automated numbering system for estimates.
Great software, even better customer service
Comments: Excellent. We have had a learning curve as we have integrated our entire system into UDA, but customer service has been on top of it. Anytime we need help, we get it right away. And we are not having to use multiple systems for project management, time keeping, document uploading, etc.
Pros:
The features are endless. We can everything in UDA that we used to do in 4 different platforms. There is a lot to learn, but the outstanding customer services makes the process easy.
Cons:
There is a learning curve as you get started. There are just so many features that we are still learning about.
Good Software
Comments: Happy with the software and depend on it daily. I have been using it for over 8 years.
Pros:
Many features aid in the management of projects
Cons:
There are several options or features that could help us but they are additional costs and we are already paying a lot for C.O. and we can't justify the additional cost. Quickbooks integration is fair but causes some reporting issues that make job costing difficult.
Long Term Users
Comments: We have used the program for over 12 years and there have been many enhancements that we feel help us in running our projects and bringing good communications to our team.
Pros:
The program is very robust and allows us to use parts that fit our businesses well. It is critical to stay in good communications with everyone on the project team, CO makes that easy!
Cons:
In Scheduling, the ability to select multiple assigned people to a single task. The program will close down speratically from time to time.
Third Space Builders
Pros:
The financial reports are instrumental for our business.
Cons:
Building the construction schedules could use a feature that lets you add lag days.
